Nicole Tilley
Biography
Visual Artist: Fine Art Printmaking, especially etching. Pencil works, shadow installations, silhouette works, ‘rag’ three dimensional characters from salvaged materials and 3D madelling materials, water colour and ink paintings.
A masters graduate of the National l College of Art and Design, Ireland (2011), Tilley has been the recipient of numerous residencies and awards such as Professional Practice Award, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown Council (2013); AXA Insurance Purchase Award (2009); Graphic Studio Dublin Graduate Award (2009); and Black Church Print Studio Access Award, Dublin (2009). She exhibits extensively and has been a member of Black Church Print Studio since September 2011.
Tilley investigates the idea of the thresold. For her, a threshold represnets a boundary between one condition and another and also indicates the potential for change. This concept forms an essential theme in her practice; liminality and the fear, anxiety and desire associated with this idea.
