Andrew Duggan presents work in spaces where the location has a social, historical and architectural resonance. Often working with others, Andrew defines a space where an actor or dancer explores a particular script or action. Often presenting work outside the gallery space, he has created installations in handball alleys [court, 2011, future perfect, 2008], video projections in disused creameries [milk+honey, 2002], created video pieces in previously used film locations [iarsma_remnant 2009] or theatrical spaces [act, 2006].
Andrew’s work has featured members of the National Folk Theatre, Cindy Cummings, Paul Galvin, Olwen ForÃ©rÃ© and Jazmin Chiodi. He was the first Irish artist to be awarded the Location One Fellowship in New York City. His work was part of Culture Ireland’s Imagine Ireland programme o art in the US and most recently he presented ‘unravel’ in Lyon, France, as part ofEU2013, Ireland’s international cultural programme.
